Stripped a derailleur hanger thread at 9pm on a group ride in Austin
Snapped the bolt clean off torquing it back on after a buddy's crash bent the hanger, and the LBS was closed. I managed to helicoil it in the parking lot with a cheap kit from my car, but the alignment is still sketchy. Anyone else carry a tap kit on rides or am I just paranoid now?

The helicoil patch job is the real problem, not having the kit. If the alignment is sketchy, you're just one hard shift away from snapping another bolt, which is way worse than walking to a buddy's place for the night.
