I finally figured out why my buddy refuses to touch hydraulic brakes, and I can't decide if he's right
My buddy Dave has been wrenching for 15 years and he flat out won't service hydraulic brakes. Said it at his shop in Boise last month while I was dropping off a wheel. His words were quote, cables you can feel, fluid you just hope. I get where he's coming from. A cable you can see stretching, you can hear it drag, you know what's wrong. Fluid is sealed up so you're guessing until it fails. But the flip side is hydraulics stop better and don't need constant adjusting. I've done maybe 40 bleeds this year and only botched two, both on older setups with crusty seals. So who's got the better take here? Is staying cable only smart or just stubborn?
