Showerthought: I was over-complicating every fade for years

A new barber at my shop in Tampa just did a perfect fade in like 15 minutes using only two guards and a lot of scissor work. I was using like five different guards and blending forever. How do you keep your technique simple without losing quality?

Man, this reminds me of my buddy's barber. He watched him do a whole skin fade with just a clipper and a trimmer, no guards at all. Just kept flicking the wrist and checking the line. My friend said it looked insane and took maybe ten minutes. He was used to seeing guys use a whole set of guards and take forever. Sometimes the simple way is just better.

Damn, my cousin's barber does that too and his fades are always crazy sharp.
