Clipper maintenance shortcut after a dull blade disaster

My clippers started pulling hair on a Thursday, right before a full books day. I tried oiling and cleaning but nothing fixed it, then a buddy said to run the blade backwards on a leather strop for 10 minutes. Now I do it every Sunday night and haven't had a single snag since. Anyone else use strops on their fade blades?
