Been cutting hair 8 years and just found out most clipper blades aren't actually sharpened right from the factory

I was at a barber supply shop in Austin last week and the old guy running it told me factory edges are basically just stamped, not honed. He showed me the difference under a magnifier and my mind was blown. How many of you actually sharpen your own blades instead of buying new ones?

Yeah I used to just buy new blades every few months like everyone else. That old timer in Austin is right though, once you see the difference it's hard to unsee. I started honing my own about two years back and it saves a ton of money and gives a way cleaner cut.

Dont forget that honing changes how the blade sits against your skin too. That little adjustment in angle makes a world of difference for preventing irritation, especially if you've got thicker facial hair. It's like fine tuning a car's suspension, subtle but you feel it every time.
