My basil finally took off after I switched from a big pot to a bunch of small ones

Honestly, I had two basil plants in a single 12-inch pot for months and they just stayed small. Last week, I split them into four separate 6-inch pots. Ngl, the difference is crazy. They've already doubled in size because the roots aren't fighting for space. Has anyone else found that herbs do better when they're not crowded?
