I left the coop door open for 20 minutes and a hawk got in

It was just after lunch yesterday, and I ran back inside to grab my phone. I came out to find feathers everywhere and one of my Buff Orpingtons gone. I had to move the rest of the flock into the garage for the afternoon to calm them down. Has anyone else had a hawk strike that fast, and what did you do to make the run safer?

Twenty minutes, right? That's all it takes. I lost a Speckled Sussex last fall in about the same amount of time. I strung up some old CDs on fishing line over the run, the shiny reflection seems to spook them. You ever try something like that?

Yeah, it's wild how fast it happens. I see that same pattern everywhere now, like how a single unlocked door can change your whole day or one missed email can blow up a project. It's all about those tiny cracks in the system.
