The Teton Crest Trail is better south to north, here's why

I did the Teton Crest last August and everyone said to start at String Lake. I went from Phillips Pass up instead. The first day is a grind, but you hit the good views of the Tetons head-on around Alaska Basin instead of looking back at them all week. Camped at Death Canyon Shelf on night two and had the whole place to myself. Everyone else was marching the other way. Anyone else tried it this direction and found the crowds thin out?

Fair point, but going the standard way sets up the sunrise payoff at Paintbrush Divide.
