I planned my weeklong trip backward for 4 years, and the fix hit me at a trail register in Vermont
Every route I mapped started with the big climb on day one, and by day three my legs were shot near Mount Abraham. Last June I flipped it around and put the easy valley miles first, and I finished the whole 62 mile loop feeling strong instead of wrecked. Does anyone else plan their days around daily mileage goals instead of where the hard climbs land?
