Dropped $90 on the fancy ultralight maps for the Huayhuash and barely used them
The foldable waterproof set was heavier than my phone and the trails were marked better than I expected. Anyone got a map system that actually earns its pack space?
That stings. Dropping almost a hundred bucks on maps you end up not needing is a rough lesson. The Huayhuash is honestly pretty well cairned in the busy season, so I get why the phone won. A cheap set of printed copies in a ziplock has worked fine for me, and I don't feel bad when they stay in the pack.
