I used to think messing with old flight instruments at home was just clutter, but getting a glideslope indicator to light up changed my whole view.

That's awesome when a piece finally powers up. Try checking surplus stores for more instruments to mess with.

Oh man, that reminds me of a buddy who found this old oscilloscope at a surplus place for like twenty bucks. It was covered in grime and looked totally dead. He spent a whole weekend just cleaning it and checking connections, convinced he could get it going. The look on his face when the trace actually lit up on the screen was priceless lol. He uses it all the time now for his little projects. Those stores are total treasure hunts sometimes.
