DAE remember when you could fix a car with a screwdriver and a prayer? Spent Saturday on my 87 Civic
My 87 Civic blew a heater hose Friday night on the way home from the auto parts store, which is funny in a sad way. I pulled it into the garage and figured I would knock it out in an hour like the old days. Two hours later I was staring at vacuum lines going everywhere, an EGR valve I forgot existed, and a bolt tucked so far back my hand looked like I lost a fight with a cat. Back when I started messing with cars, you popped the hood, saw daylight, and could reach anything with a 10mm and a flathead. Now I pop the hood on my wife's 2015 and it looks like a laptop with a plastic cover. I did get the hose swapped for $14 in parts, but the skinned knuckles and the 3 trips to the store for the right clamp made it feel like a full weekend job. Anybody else notice the newer stuff is easier to scan but way harder to actually touch? What is the worst job you have done on a car that should have been simple?
