When I shipped my 240SX from Tulsa to Portland last March, a dispatcher named Ray told me to skip the fancy wheel straps and just use $12 moving blankets from a U-Haul on 11th Street. I figured he was blowing me off, but he said the soft straps can rub the rims on a 2,800 mile haul. Got the car off the truck with zero scuffs, and the driver told me most damage he sees comes from straps, not blankets. Has anyone else had a dispatcher give you advice that sounded lazy but actually saved your paint?
