Serious question, someone keyed my tailgate in a Walmart lot in Dayton and I want to know what actually stops this
Happened Saturday around 2pm while I was inside for maybe 15 minutes, and the repair quote came back at $680. Do those motion-sensing dash cams actually catch anything useful, or is a $300 paint protection film the better move?

What kind of lot was it, like a busy one right up front or were you parked way out by the garden center? That matters a lot, because cameras mostly catch stuff when there's a clear angle and decent light, and half the time some guy in a hoodie is walking right under the lens. Also, did Walmart actually pull their footage for you, or did they tell you to file a police report first? I'm asking because the free option is theirs and a lot of people skip it. If the cops won't run the tape, a dash cam might not save you either.
