Ceramic coating vs. good old wax: did I waste $600 on my Civic in Denver?
I got a ceramic coating put on my Civic in Denver last spring and paid $600 for it. A buddy of mine just waxes his truck every 3 months with a $15 tub of paste wax and swears it looks just as good. So here is the debate: is ceramic worth the money or are we all just paying for hype? My coating still beads water great after 10 months, but his wax job beads fine too for the first month or so. The difference I keep coming back to is time, since I have not touched my paint since the install and he spends a whole Saturday 4 times a year. For those of you who have run both, did the coating actually last long enough to make the cost make sense, or did it start fading by year two?
