Can we talk about cheap car covers scratching your paint?
I bought a $35 car cover off a big online site last spring to keep dust off my Mustang while it sits in the driveway. After about 4 months I pulled it off and found swirl marks and fine scratches all over the roof and trunk, mostly from the wind moving the cover and the rough seams rubbing. A detail shop in Mesa quoted me $260 to buff it out, which is almost 8 times what I paid for the cover. Turns out the cheap ones don't have a soft inner layer, so they trap grit and grind it in every time the wind blows. Has anyone found a cover under $80 that actually protects the paint without doing this?
