Vent: That locksmith quote that took 4 hours to get
Honestly, I spent a whole Saturday dealing with a stuck lock on my front door here in Decatur. Called around and most places quoted me $150 to $200 just to come out and look. It took me 4 hours to find a local guy who would even give me a straight price over the phone, ended up being $75 for a simple rekey. Has anyone else had this runaround trying to get solid estimates from Atlanta service people?

Four hours just to find someone who would tell you the price? At that point I would have just started watching YouTube videos on how to pick my own lock. The whole "we have to send a truck" song and dance is just their way of hiding the fact that they're going to charge you $300 for a five minute job. At least you got a decent rate in the end, but sometimes I wonder if these folks are in the business of fixing locks or seeing how long they can keep you waiting.

Man that's ridiculous. I had a similar thing happen last year when I locked myself out of my apartment in Buckhead. Called five different places and three of them wouldn't even give me a price over the phone, just kept saying "depends on what we find when we get there." Finally found a guy who said $85 flat fee and he showed up in 20 minutes, fixed it in less than that. Felt like the other shops just wanted to drag it out and tack on "emergency fees" or whatever. The whole industry feels like a scam sometimes.
