Can we talk about how 3 different locksmiths quoted me $180 to $350 for the same car key in Decatur?
My key fob died on my 2016 Civic and I called around Decatur last week. One shop on Candler Rd said $180 if I brought my own blank, another said $350 and wouldn't explain why, and the third said $240 but wanted the car overnight. Turns out the actual dealer price was $165 and nobody told me that was even an option. Is there some kind of rule for who can cut and program these keys, or am I just supposed to guess? Has anyone found a locksmith around here who doesn't do the mystery price thing?
