Shoutout to my neighbor who fixed my water heater with a wire hanger

Guy from two doors down came over last month when my 15 year old Rheem started leaking, and he had it patched with a coat hanger and some epoxy in ten minutes. Has anyone else had a neighbor save them a huge plumber bill like that?

Actually, a wire hanger might mess up the anode rod inside the tank...

I actually saw this on a plumbing forum once where a guy said the same thing about wire hangers messing with the anode rod. He had a whole thread about how it can stir up sediment or even knock the rod loose if you're not careful.
