PSA: my HOA fined me $200 for a doormat that was 'too festive'
Last Tuesday I put out a fall-themed doormat with pumpkins on it and got a violation notice the next day. The board member told me it violated rule 4.2 about 'seasonal decor before October 1st.' Anyone else dealing with HOA nitpicking over the dumbest stuff?

That's exactly how it goes around here too... the rules only seem to apply to some people and not others. We had a neighbor with a faded plastic jack-o-lantern on their porch in August and never heard a peep from the board. But someone put out a simple wreath with a few leaves on it last September and got a warning letter the same week. The selective enforcement makes it way harder to swallow than the fine itself.

Man, that's rough. My buddy got a warning last year because his welcome mat had a football on it and they said it was too sports-related for the community standards. Then the HOA president's son had a giant inflatable snowman up in November and nothing happened to them. It's always the little stuff they come after you for, right?
