Pro tip: Check your property tax assessment before June

I was looking through my county records online (Fulton County website) and found out my home's assessed value went up 12% from last year. Had no idea until I stumbled on it while searching for a permit history. Called the tax assessor's office and they said most people don't even look until they get the bill in August. Has anyone else caught a big jump like this before the deadline to appeal?

People do win, but you need solid evidence like recent sales of similar homes. It helps to look up comps yourself before you go, @west.claire.
