My HVAC guy talked me out of replacing my 22 year old unit and I'm still not sure how to feel
The tech who came out for a $89 tuneup last Tuesday could have easily sold me a whole new system since mine is from 2002, but instead he showed me my coolant levels were fine and just swapped a $30 capacitor. He mentioned most units in Grant Park die from bad installs, not age, and mine was put in right. Now I'm torn between trusting him and wondering if I'm just delaying a $9000 problem for next summer, so did anyone else keep an older unit running way past its expected life?
