Unpopular opinion: That $400 'smart' telescope adapter was a complete waste
I bought it six months ago thinking it would make aligning my camera easier for deep sky shots. It actually added more steps and messed up my polar alignment twice, costing me two clear nights of imaging. The software crashed constantly and their support just told me to restart everything. Has anyone found a reliable manual method that doesn't involve this kind of junk?

Sounds about right for those gimmicky adapters. Just use a basic dovetail plate and save the headache.

Totally agree with @sean_flores75 on the basic plate. Tried one of those fancy quick-release adapters last year and it never held zero. Honestly felt like a complete waste of money. Ended up going back to a simple dovetail and it just works every single time. Sometimes the old way is the best way.
