Stacked 200 moon photos and got a face instead of the surface
I tried a lucky imaging stack on the moon last month from my backyard in Tucson, using my 8 inch dob and a cheap planetary cam. Everything looked fine until I processed it in Registax, the final image had this weird dark patch that honestly looked like a human face staring back. Turns out my finder scope was slightly off and I'd been tracking a reflection off a neighbor's window for half the frames. Learned to do a quick drift alignment check before any long capture now, has anyone else had software pick up a phantom pattern like that?
