I have a 6 inch dob myself and it was a real eye opener when I got to look through a friend's 12 inch at a star party a few years back. The difference in light gathering is just huge, like going from a 1080p TV to a 4K one for faint stuff. You see so much more detail in the rings and can pick out bands on Saturn that just aren't there in the smaller scope. That moment where you realize your own gear is the limiting factor is a tough pill to swallow for sure. Makes you start counting pennies for an upgrade right then and there.
