Heard a guy at the observatory say stacking 1000 frames is always better than 100, but my best shot of Orion came from just 80 frames with a cheap tripod.

I tried his method with 2000 frames of the Andromeda galaxy and got worse noise than my normal quick stack, has anyone else found that more data doesnt always mean a better photo?

2000 frames and it was WORSE? That's hard to believe.

What processing steps did you use on that 2000 frame stack?
