Warning: that $12 thrift store espresso machine I bought last Saturday worked great for 2 days and then shot coffee grounds everywhere

Took me 45 minutes to clean brown sludge off my white kitchen ceiling and now I'm wondering if anyone has actually restored a vintage Saeco from 1998 without it exploding?

Bought a Rancilio Silvia from 2008 on OfferUp last year and replacing all the gaskets and the shower screen was maybe $30 total and took an afternoon. Never had another problem after that.

lmao I feel your pain so much, that cleanup sounds like a nightmare. I tried the whole vintage espresso machine thing once and learned the hard way that old seals and gaskets are basically a ticking time bomb. The Saeco from '98 is cool in theory but those things are known for blowing up if you don't replace every rubber part first.
