Unpopular opinion: I saw a guy at the library in Denver ask the same basic question for 45 minutes straight
I was at the main branch downtown last Thursday trying to find a book. This older man was at the help desk asking how to use the online catalog to find a novel. The librarian showed him, step by step, three separate times. He kept coming back with the same question, refusing to write anything down. It wasn't a tech issue, he just wouldn't listen. Has anyone else dealt with someone who just will not absorb a simple answer?

Could it be he was just really nervous? Some people get flustered in public places, especially with tech, and the stress makes it hard to focus. I see what @davis.emma is saying about memory problems, but sometimes it's just anxiety making someone freeze up and ask the same thing over. The librarian showing him three times might have made him feel more pressured, not less.
