Overheard two guys arguing about whether sourdough starter names are weird
One guy was dead serious that naming your starter is normal, the other said it's like naming your car. Made me wonder if I'm the only one who's had the same starter for 4 years and never even thought about giving it a name.

Aw man, I gotta respectfully disagree with that second guy. Naming your sourdough starter is totally different than naming a car, it's more like naming a pet or a plant you keep alive for years. That thing is basically a living creature you feed and care for, it deserves a name.
