Overheard a guy at the lumberyard say he only climbs with one handsaw now

He said it saves him 3 minutes per climb and after 20 years he ditched the second saw for good, so has anyone else scaled back their gear after a certain point?

Read a piece from a climbing forum where a guy said after 15 years he ditched his second lanyard cause he realized he was never using it on removals. If you're not running both sides of the tree for rigging, seems like a no brainer to drop the extra weight. You ever catch yourself carrying gear you barely touch?

Hang on, I see it a bit different. I kept my second lanyard for years and now I use it all the time on removals for positioning, not just rigging. When you're up there cutting a heavy limb and need to shift your tie-in point without unclipping, that second lanyard is a lifesaver for staying solid. I also use it for choking around the trunk when I'm working on the backside of a tree. I'd rather carry the extra two pounds than mess around trying to get stable without it.
