My throw line snapped mid-crotch on a big oak in Sacramento and left my rope stuck 40 feet up
Last Tuesday I was setting a line in a valley oak in Sacramento and my throw line snapped right as the bag went over the limb, so my climb line was stuck about 40 feet up with no way down. I spent 20 minutes trying to flick it loose with a pole saw before I gave up and drove to get a spare. Ended up having to climb a neighboring tree and swing across, which was dumb and I know it. The line was maybe 2 years old and had been rubbing on a rough bark stub for a while, which I should have caught. What do you folks check for on throw lines so this does not happen again?
