My air spade quit halfway through a root collar excavation

Ngl, I was working on this big oak in Arlington last Thursday and the air spade just died on me about 40 minutes in. Turns out the compressor hose had a pinched spot that finally gave out, and I didn't have a spare on the truck. I ended up switching to a hand trowel and a root shovel for the rest of the job, which took almost 3 hours more than it should have. Has anyone else had their air spade setup fail mid-job, and do you carry backup hoses or a whole second compressor?
