Dropped $400 on a silky pole saw last spring and it paid for itself in one storm cleanup
So I run a small moving company and we end up doing a lot of storm damage cleanup on the side when folks need stuff hauled out of yards after a blow. Last April I finally pulled the trigger on a 21 foot Silky pole saw, cost me about $400 with the extension. I had been using my old Fiskars and a ladder for years and honestly I hated every second of it. Then two weeks after I got it, a microburst rolled through a job site in Plano and I had six downed limbs hanging over a customer's driveway. The Silky chewed through a 6 inch oak limb in maybe 20 seconds without me ever leaving the ground. My old setup would have had me up on a ladder with a chainsaw and probably a trip to urgent care. Now I get asked all the time if a $400 hand saw is worth it over a $60 one, and I want to hear from guys who actually do this full time, is my luck gonna run out or is this thing really that much better?
