Saw a 20-year-old Maytag dryer still running at a laundromat in Spokane

I mean, I was just dropping off some stuff at a place on Division Street and they had this old Maytag Neptune dryer in the back corner. Thing looked beat up but the owner said it's been running with just basic belt and roller changes since 2004. Idk, maybe it's just me but seeing stuff built that well still working after all those cycles is kinda cool. Anyone else run into appliances that just refuse to quit?

That's actually a Maytag Neptune washer, not a dryer. They were famous for their long life and simple design. The dryers from that line were just okay, but those front-load washers were tanks. It's neat to hear one is still going in a commercial setting after all that use.

Yeah, those old Neptunes were built different. My apartment complex had a couple that ran for like fifteen years straight, just humming along. It's kind of sad how you just don't see that kind of simple durability anymore. Everything feels like it's meant to break so you'll buy a new one.
