Pro tip: A customer's complaint about ice makers taught me something new

Had a guy call me out to his side-by-side last Tuesday in St. Paul, says his ice maker hasn't worked in months. He was ready to replace the whole unit, but I noticed the water line had a kink behind the fridge. Fixed that and the ice dropped like clockwork. He gave me a $50 tip on top of the service fee. Has anyone else run into a simple fix like that that saved someone a big repair bill?

Caution, I wouldn't call this a simple fix. Ice makers have a lot of common failure points like the water inlet valve or the thermostat, and a kinked line is pretty unusual. I've seen plenty of fridges where people ignored a slow leak for months and ended up with a rotted floor, so always check for water damage too.
