Swore off bokashi Bran after my 3rd batch smelled like pickles, then a guy at the community garden set me straight
I was ready to toss my bokashi bucket after two batches in my 400 sq ft studio smelled like sour pickles and my neighbor in 4B complained through the wall. He said the problem was I was dumping in wet coffee grounds without any dry browns, so I started layering shredded junk mail between each scoop and the smell went away in about 5 days. Has anyone else had to add browns to bokashi, or is that just something people skip because the bran bag says you don't have to?

Dealt with that same pickle smell until I started layering dry stuff too.
