Spent 4 months trying to fix a smelly bokashi bin

I kept getting this rotten egg smell from my bokashi bucket in my studio apartment. Turns out I wasn't draining the liquid every 3 days like the instructions said. Has anyone else dealt with a smell that just wouldn't go away?

Whoa hold on, I gotta push back a little on that sawdust idea. I tried that once thinking it'd be a quick fix and ended up with a wet sawdust brick that smelled worse than the original problem. The sawdust just soaked up the liquid and turned into a soggy anaerobic mess that made the rotten egg smell even stronger. It actually blocked the drainage holes too and I had to scoop it all out by hand which was disgusting. I get why you'd suggest it @the_hannah, but in a small studio like yours that moisture has to go somewhere and sawdust just traps it in the bin. Better to just drain that liquid religiously or put a tight lid on it and open it outside if you can.

Read somewhere that putting a bit of sawdust or shredded paper in the bottom of the bin helps soak up extra moisture and cuts down on smells. Might be worth a try if you still have issues after fixing the draining.
