Spent 3 months with a Bokashi bin - got mold instead of compost
I tried a Bokashi system in my tiny Chicago apartment because everyone online says it's the best for small spaces. Followed the instructions exactly - layered food scraps, added the bran, drained the liquid every few days. After 3 months I opened it up expecting that pickled smell they promise. Got a thick layer of green mold on top and the bottom was just soggy mush. Tried it twice more with cleaner scraps and less moisture, same result. I think Bokashi works great if you have a garage or basement, but in a warm apartment it's a different story. Anyone else have a Bokashi bin fail on them in a small space?

Yeah I gotta push back on "mold instead of compost" - that white mold IS part of the process.
