PSA: My $80 electric composter was a total waste of money
Bought it thinking it would solve my apartment smell issues, but it just made a weird hot mush that never broke down right. After three months of mess, I went back to my old worm bin. Anyone have a good use for a fancy paperweight that hums?

Eighty dollars for a machine that just makes hot garbage soup? That's brutal. You'd think for that price it would actually, you know, compost things. My neighbor had one and it just sat there buzzing and making the whole kitchen smell like a damp basement. The whole point is to avoid the mess, not create a new weird science project.

Oh man, that "weird hot mush" line is so real. I was totally sold on the idea of an electric composter for my kitchen too. I thought it would be the perfect clean answer. But after seeing my friend's result, which was basically the same warm sludge, it totally changed my mind. It just doesn't seem to get hot enough or mixed right to actually finish the job. I'm sticking with my outdoor pile for yard stuff now. It's slower but at least it turns into real dirt.
