My balcony compost finally stopped smelling like a swamp

I live in a small second floor place in Phoenix and my worm bin was getting way too wet and stinky in the heat. I tried adding more shredded paper but it just turned to mush. Last Tuesday, I started saving all my eggshells, drying them in the oven, and then crushing them into a powder with a rolling pin. I mixed in a full cup of that powder and within three days the smell was totally gone. The worms seem way happier too. Has anyone else tried using a ton of crushed eggshells to fix a soggy bin?

That eggshell trick is a total game changer for wet bins. The calcium helps balance everything out and dries it up fast. Might start saving my shells too.

Game changer" feels like a lot for eggshells. I mean, it's just calcium, right? My bin gets wet sometimes but it's never been a huge deal that needs fixing. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people make composting way more serious than it has to be.
