Appreciation post: My worm bin finally stopped smelling after I added shredded cardboard

I was about to give up on vermicomposting because my bin reeked like rotten eggs every week. Tried adding a layer of shredded cardboard on top of every food scrap addition, and within 3 days the smell disappeared. Anyone else have a simple fix that turned their bin around?

Used to roll my eyes at the cardboard tip, thought it was overhyped. But my bin was a rotting mess every two weeks until I tried a thick layer on top. Now I see why people swear by it, the difference is honestly night and day.

@kelly338 yeah I read somewhere the bacteria need the carbon to break stuff down properly...
