That $15 vintage vase I bought is now leaking water everywhere
I dropped 15 bucks on a cute art deco vase from a flea market in Austin last weekend, thought it was a steal for the price. Got it home, filled it with water for some flowers, and now there's a slow drip coming from a hairline crack I totally missed. Anyone else ever get burned by a pretty antique that turned out to be totally useless?

Oh man, that's such a bummer isn't it? I had the exact same thing happen with a milk glass pitcher I found at a thrift store in San Antonio, cute little thing from the 50s, turned out it had a tiny crack hidden under the rim and just weeped water all over my counter. It's frustrating because you think you're getting a deal and then you end up with a paperweight or a plant pot that can't even hold dirt properly. At least for 15 bucks you didn't lose a ton, but still, it stings when you had a vision for it and everything. Maybe you could line the inside with some clear epoxy or just use it for dry flowers, idk.

Ngl that epoxy idea is actually smart but I gotta ask, did you check the inside before you bought it? I always shine my phone flashlight right up against the glass at thrift stores now after getting burned on a carnival glass bowl that had a hairline fracture you could only see from the inside. Tbh I think a lot of people miss those hidden cracks because they're too busy looking at the outside pattern or color. How do you even spot a weepy crack on milk glass specifically since it's not see through?
