Took my 8 year old to the Mesa Historical Museum and now she keeps asking why Arizona looks like a broken rectangle
We spent about 2 hours there on Saturday and the old 1860s Arizona territory map on the wall has this weird skinny strip on the west side that doesn't match anything today. She counted the corners out loud and got 7, then asked me why nobody fixed it, and I honestly had no answer for her. Can someone here explain the whole Gadsden strip thing so I can give a 8 year old version at dinner tonight?
