Re-watching the 1995 Eva dub felt like visiting an old friend who changed

I finally got around to revisiting the original ADV dub of Evangelion last week, the one I wore out on VHS back in 2001. It was rough in places, sure, but hearing that old Misato voice brought back sitting in my buddy's basement in Akron after school. The new dub is cleaner and probably better acted, but I found myself missing the weird energy of the old one, warts and all. Does anyone else stick with the version they first saw even when a newer release comes along?
