My friend in the Dallas anime club swore I should skip One Piece filler, but I'm glad I didn't

He said to use a guide and skip all the filler arcs to save time, so I did for the first 300 episodes. I went back later and watched the G-8 arc after Enies Lobby, and it was honestly some of the funniest stuff in the whole show. Has anyone else found a filler arc they actually liked more than some canon material?

Your friend gave you the worst advice ever, no lie. Skipping G-8 is a crime, that arc is pure gold. Condoriano? The whole trying to sneak the Merry through a marine base? Way better than some of the slower canon stuff in early Skypeia. Makes you wonder what other filler gems people missed because of a guide.

Saying G-8 is better than early Skypeia is a wild take. The whole build-up to the Upper Yard and the mystery of the bell is what makes that saga work. The filler is fun, but it doesn't add to the bigger story. I'd take the world-building in canon over a funny side adventure any day.
