The week from hell with a faulty wireless receiver
Last Tuesday I spent 3 hours on a residential install in Portland. Every time I paired a sensor it worked for about 10 minutes then dropped off. I replaced the batteries twice before I figured out the receiver was mounted right next to a metal duct in the attic. Moved it 6 feet away and everything locked in solid. Ever had a signal issue that took way longer than it should have to figure out?

Oh man that sucks. It's funny how the smallest thing like a metal duct can mess everything up. I notice this all the time in regular life too like when my wifi slows down because the router is behind the TV or next to a fish tank. People dont realize how much metal, water, and even walls mess with signals. It's like one tiny placement mistake and suddenly you're chasing ghosts for hours. Sometimes the simplest fix is the one you try last.

Yeah @dakotam17 nailed it, metal and water are signal kryptonite. Such a stupid simple fix that takes forever to find.
