The 15-minute battery test that proved my lead tech wrong about lithium

My lead tech, Dave, swore that swapping out all our DSC panels to lithium backups was a waste of time. He said the old sealed lead acid batteries were fine and the lithium ones just cost more for no real gain. Last month I had a commercial site in Phoenix where the power flickered during a monsoon and the old battery died after 2 minutes of alarm ringing. I swapped in a lithium pack I had in my van, ran the same test, and it held for almost 40 minutes before I stopped counting. Dave saw the logs and went quiet, but I still think he'd recommend lead acid if the customer didn't ask about runtime. Anyone else dealt with a senior installer who won't budge on battery chemistry, or is it just my shop? I'm trying to standardize our kits and this stubbornness is making it rough.
