Overheard an installer in the supply house say he never labels zone wires, and it stuck with me
I was standing in line at a supply house in Boise last week and the guy ahead of me told the counter worker he stopped labeling zone wires about 10 jobs back because the panel tells you everything anyway. I didn't say anything but it bugged me the whole drive home. Sure enough, two days later I got called to a 14 zone house in Meridian where the original guy left nothing tagged, and troubleshooting one bad door contact took me almost 3 hours instead of the 20 minutes it should have been. Has anyone else run into a panel where the zone list in the software didn't match the physical wiring at all?
