I had to explain to a homeowner why their stone walls mess with wireless signals.

Ugh, I feel that! My buddy's place has THICK stone walls and his Wi-Fi is basically useless.

Actually read an article about this last week. Those old stone walls are basically Wi-Fi Kryptonite because of all the minerals in the rock. The signal just CANNOT get through. The only fix I've heard that really works is running ethernet cables to a couple of those mesh satellite units. Putting them in different rooms helps wrap the signal around the walls. It's a huge pain but better than having dead zones everywhere.
