Can we talk about the time a keypad just started beeping at 3 AM?
Got a panicked call from a client in Tempe because their system wouldn't disarm, turned out the backup battery swelled and shorted the main board. Anyone have a go-to brand for those 12V 7Ah replacements that actually last more than a year?

Swear everything with a backup battery is built to fail right after the warranty ends. Had the same thing happen with a UPS for my home computer setup. Been using the Power-Sonic batteries from the supply house lately and they seem okay.

Isn't it just how everything is made now? @brown.wesley, you're right, it's not just batteries. My coffee maker, a power tool, even a kid's toy all died right after that one year mark. It feels like the timer starts when you buy it. They design things to be replaced, not to last. Makes you wonder why we even bother expecting better.
